Gateway & Sonoma Weekend


Hey folks! Here's my take on the Gateway and Sonoma weekend. The Xfinity series was off this time.

Saturday was the Truck race at Gateway.  Rookie Christopher Bell won with 28 laps led, followed by pole-sitter rookie Ben Rhodes with 4 laps led, Daniel Hemric, Johnny Sauter and Erik Jones. Rounding out the top-10 were John Hunter Nemechek, German Quiroga, Kaz Grela, Ben Kennedy and Timothy Peters.  Jordan Anderson led 1 lap and was 11th. Rookie William Byron was 17th with 47 laps led.  Spencer Gallagher crashed out on lap 153 and was 22nd.  John Wes Townley was 23rd due to an accident after 150 laps.  Tyler Reddick led 41 laps before an accident on lap 149 relegated him to 25th.  Matt Crafton was 27th due to an accident on lap 148.  Rookie Austin Wayne Self was 28th due an accident on lap 118.  Jennifer Jo Cobb was 29th due to an accident on lap 113.

Sunday was the Sonoma Cup race. Tony Stewart won with 22 laps led, followed by Denny Hamlin with 33 laps led, Joey Logano,  pole-sitter Carl Edwards with 24 laps led and Martin Truex, Jr.  Rounding out the top-10 were Kevin Harvick with 3 laps led, Kyle Busch with 2 laps led, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne and Kurt Busch. AJ Allemendinger was 14th after leading 20 laps.  Paul Menard was 16th with 3 laps led. Danica Patrick led 3 laps and was 19th.  No one crashed out.
