Talladega Weekend

Hey folks! Here's my take on the Talladega weekend.


Saturday was the Xfinity race. Elliott Sadler won with 1 lap led, followed by Justin Allgaier, rookie Brennan Pole with 5 laps led, Jeremy Clements with 7 laps led and Brendan Gaughan with 1 lap led. Rounding out the top-10 were Austin Dillon with 7 laps led, Daniel Suarez with 2 laps led, pole-sitter Matt Tifft with 21 laps led, Chase Elliot with 7 laps led and Aric Almirola. Rookie Brandon Jones was 19th after leading 36 laps. Blake Koch was 24th after 1 lap led. Joey Logano led 19 laps and was 27th. Ryan Reed led 8 laps and was 31st. Chris Cockrum and Joey Gase were 37th and 38th due to a lap 30 wreck.
Sunday was the Cup race. Brad Keselowski won with 46 laps led, followed by Kyle Busch with 12 laps led, Austin Dillon, Jamie McMurray and pole-sitter rookie Chase Elliott with 37 laps led. Rounding out the top-10 were Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch, Ryan Blaney and Trevor Bayne with 22 laps led. Bayne had  a fast car, but lacked someone to draft with at the end. Michael Waltrip led 2 laps and was 12th. AJ Allmendinger was 14th with 1 lap led. Kevin Harvick led 9 laps and was 15th. Cole Whitt led 1 lap before finishing 18th. Bobby Labonte was 19th after 2 laps led.  Matt Kenseth led 39 laps, Danica Patrick led 3 laps, Joey Logano led 6 laps, and Aric Almirola led 1 lap, before they all wrecked out along with Paul Menard on lap 180. Kenseth was 23rd, Patrick was 24th, Logano was 25th, Menard was 26th, Almirola was 27th due to the Big One.   Ryan Newman led 1 lap and was 28th.  Kyle Larson led 9 laps and finished 29th. Denny Hamlin led 5 laps before finishing 31st. David Ragan was 34th due to an engine problem after leading 2 laps. Carl Edwards crashed out on lap 109 and was 35th. Rookie Chris Buescher was 37th after an accident on lap 95. Michael Annett crashed after 94 laps and was 38th. Kasey Kahne had an accident on lap 82 and was 39th. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was 40th due to an accident on lap 63.
