Sonoma Weekend

Hey folks! Here's my take on the Sonoma race weekend. The Trucks and Xfinity were off this time. I don't typically cover K&N Pro, but that race had Cup driver presence.




Saturday was the K&N Pro West race. Pole sitter David Mayhew won with 4 laps led, followed by Dalton Sargeant with 64 laps led, J. J. Haley, Ryan Partridge and William Byron. Rounding out the top-10 were Austin Dillon, Noah Gragson, Alex Schutte, Cole Custer and Trevor Bayne. Brandon McReynolds was 19th after a crash on lap 67. No one else wrecked out.




Sunday was the Cup race. Kyle Busch won with 17 laps led, followed by Kurt Busch with 43 laps led, Clint Bowyer with 4 laps led, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano. Rounding out the top-10 were Jimmie Johnson with 45 laps led, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman and Sam Hornish, Jr. Pole sitter AJ Allmendinger finished 37th after leading 1 lap. David Ragan and Carl Edwards were 39th and 40th respectively after crashing on lap 78, respectively. JJ Yeley was 41st after a wreck on lap 71. Martin Truex, Jr. was 42nd, due to an accident on lap 31. David Gilliland crashed on lap 20 and was 43rd.

Iowa and Chigagoland Weekend

Hey folks! Here's my take on the Iowa and Chicagoland weekend. Truck and Xfinity, respectively raced at these tracks while the Cup was off.


Friday night was the Iowa Truck race.  Rookie Erik Jones, the pole sitter won with 112 laps led, followed by, rookie Brandon Jones with 4 laps led, Tyler Reddick, Matt Crafton with 33 laps led and Christopher Bell. Rounding out the top-10 were Timothy Peters, Spencer Galllagher, rookie Daniel Hemric, Cole Custer and John Wes Townley. Johnny Sauter led 14 laps and finished 17th.  Rookie Cameron Haley led 37 laps and finished 19th. Rookie John H Nemechek was 23rd due to an accident on lap 157. Jake Griffin was 27th due to an accident on lap 41.


Sunday afternoon was the rain-delayed Xfinity race, which was originally scheduled for Saturday night. Erik Jones, who swept the weekend, won with 94 laps led, followed by Ryan Blaney with 43 laps led, pole-sitter Austin Dillon with 28 laps led, Brendan Gaughn with 4 laps led and Chris Buescher. Rounding out the top-10 were Ross Kenseth with 1 lap led, rookie Daniel Suarez with 1 lap led, Brian Scott, Ty Dillon and rookie Darrell Wallace, Jr. Regan Smith led 18 laps and finished 13th. Chase Elliott led 1 lap and finished 14th. Ryan Sieg led 6 laps and finished 15th.was Jeremy Clements was 19th after leading 2 laps. David Starr was 24th after 2 laps led. Dylan  Lupton was 34th due to wrecking on lap 145. No other drivers crashed out.

Michigan and Gateway Weekend

Hey folks! Here's my take on the Michigan weekend! All the series raced this time.  However, the Trucks were at a different track than the others.


The Gateway Truck race was rain delayed until Sunday. Cole Custer won with 19 laps led, followed by rookie Spencer Gallagher, Johnny Sauter with 4 laps led, rookies John Hunter Nemechek and Cameron Haley. Rounding out the top-10 were Timothy Peters, Ben Kennedy, Tyler Reddick with 4 laps led, rookies Daniel Hemric and Austin Theriault. Matt Crafton led 49 laps and was 21st after an accident on lap 151. Pole sitter Erik Jones led 84 laps but had electrical issues on lap 145 and finished 23rd.  Matt Tift was 25th after an accident on lap 92. Rookie Justin Boston wrecked on lap 51 and so did Mason Mingus, leaving them 27th and 28th, respectively.




Saturday was the Xfinity race at Michigan. Kyle Busch won with 27 laps led, followed by Chase Elliott with 5 laps led, Kyle Larson, Chris Buescher with 23 laps led and Elliott Sadler. Rounding out the top-10 were Kevin Harvick, pole-sitter Joey Logano with 54 laps led, Aric Almirola with 1 lap led, Brian Scott with 10 laps and Denny Hamlin. Paul Menard led 5 laps and was 18th. Jeremy Clements was 31st after a wreck on lap 111. David Starr and Jeffrey Earnhardt wrecked on lap 105, and finished 33rd and 34th respectively.


Sunday was the Cup race. This race had three rain delay and was rain shortened. Kurt Busch won with 6 laps led followed by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. with 1 lap led, Martin Truex, Jr, Matt Kenseth with 3 laps led and Joey Logano with 7 laps led. Rounding out the top-10 were Brad Keselowski with 6 laps led, Jamie McMurray, Paul Menard, Trevor Bayne and Clint Bowyer.  Carl Edwards led 41 laps and finished 12th. Pole sitter Kasey Kahne was 15th with 1 lap led.  Danica Patrick was 16 after 2 laps led. Kyle Larson led 7 laps before finishing 17th. Kevin Harvick led 63 laps before finishing 29th. Josh Wise led 1 lap and finished 34th.  David Gilliland was 42nd due to an accident on lap 69.  Kyle Busch had an accident on lap 52, which left him 43rd.
