Michigan and Gateway Weekend

Hey folks! Here's my take on the Michigan weekend! All the series raced this time.  However, the Trucks were at a different track than the others.


The Gateway Truck race was rain delayed until Sunday. Cole Custer won with 19 laps led, followed by rookie Spencer Gallagher, Johnny Sauter with 4 laps led, rookies John Hunter Nemechek and Cameron Haley. Rounding out the top-10 were Timothy Peters, Ben Kennedy, Tyler Reddick with 4 laps led, rookies Daniel Hemric and Austin Theriault. Matt Crafton led 49 laps and was 21st after an accident on lap 151. Pole sitter Erik Jones led 84 laps but had electrical issues on lap 145 and finished 23rd.  Matt Tift was 25th after an accident on lap 92. Rookie Justin Boston wrecked on lap 51 and so did Mason Mingus, leaving them 27th and 28th, respectively.




Saturday was the Xfinity race at Michigan. Kyle Busch won with 27 laps led, followed by Chase Elliott with 5 laps led, Kyle Larson, Chris Buescher with 23 laps led and Elliott Sadler. Rounding out the top-10 were Kevin Harvick, pole-sitter Joey Logano with 54 laps led, Aric Almirola with 1 lap led, Brian Scott with 10 laps and Denny Hamlin. Paul Menard led 5 laps and was 18th. Jeremy Clements was 31st after a wreck on lap 111. David Starr and Jeffrey Earnhardt wrecked on lap 105, and finished 33rd and 34th respectively.


Sunday was the Cup race. This race had three rain delay and was rain shortened. Kurt Busch won with 6 laps led followed by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. with 1 lap led, Martin Truex, Jr, Matt Kenseth with 3 laps led and Joey Logano with 7 laps led. Rounding out the top-10 were Brad Keselowski with 6 laps led, Jamie McMurray, Paul Menard, Trevor Bayne and Clint Bowyer.  Carl Edwards led 41 laps and finished 12th. Pole sitter Kasey Kahne was 15th with 1 lap led.  Danica Patrick was 16 after 2 laps led. Kyle Larson led 7 laps before finishing 17th. Kevin Harvick led 63 laps before finishing 29th. Josh Wise led 1 lap and finished 34th.  David Gilliland was 42nd due to an accident on lap 69.  Kyle Busch had an accident on lap 52, which left him 43rd.
