Pocono and Texas Weekend

Hey folks! Here's my take on the Pocono weekend.  Xfinity was off this time, but ARCA, Trucks and Cup raced. Normally, I don't cover ARCA, but there was some NASCAR presence in that race, so I felt it was worth mentioning.

Saturday was the ARCA race. Trevor Bayne won from the pole with 42 laps led, followed by Grant Enfinger with 3 laps led, Mason Mitchell with 13 laps led, Will Kimmel and Matt Kurzeje. Rounding out the top-10 were Tom Hessert III, Josh Williams with 1 lap led, David Levine, Bobby Gerhart and Matt Tift with 5 laps led.  Austin Wayne Self crashed out on lap 77. Brian Kaltreider wrecked out in turn 3 on the 1st lap. Trevor Bayne had never raced Pocono or ARCA before. and was in the race because of the former, to get track time before the Cup race.

Friday night was the Truck race at Texas. Matt Crafton won with 77 laps led, followed by Daniel Suarez with 6 laps led, John Wes Townley, Johnny Sauter and rookie Austin Theriault. Rounding out the top-10 were Joe Nemechek,  rookie Cameron Hayley with 3 laps led, rookie Justin Boston with 1 lap led, rookie Daniel Hemric and Ben Kennedy. Tyler Reddick led 1 lap before finishing 11th. Rookie Erik Jones, the pole-sitter led  68 laps and finished 15th.  Rookie Ray Black, Jr. was  16th with 1 lap led.  Tyler Tanner led 5 laps and was 17th. Timothy Peter led 5 laps, but had engine problems, which relegated him to 21st. No one wrecked out.
Sunday was the Cup race. Martin Truex, Jr. won with 97 laps led, followed by Kevin Harvick with 39 laps led, Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano and pole-sitter Kurt Busch. Rounding out the top-10 were Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray, Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin. Kasey Kahne led 2 laps and finished 13th. Jeff Gordon was 14th with 1 lap led. Carl Edwards was 15th after leading 16 laps. Austin Dillon was 19th with 5 laps led. Ryan Newman crashed out on lap 141 and was 39th.  Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. wrecked on lap 105 and was 42nd.

Stay tuned for my Michigan recap.
