Darlington Weekend

Hey folks! Here's my take on Darlington. Trucks were off again this time.

Friday was the Nationwide race. Rookie Chase Elliot won for the second time in a row with 52 laps led , followed by Elliot Sadler with 3 laps led, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch with 84 laps led and Joey Logano.  Rounding out the top-10 were Kyle Larson with 2 laps led, Kevin Harvick with 5 laps led, Regan Smith, Trevor Bayne and rookie Ty Dillon.  Mike Wallace finished 17th after 1 lap led.  Trevor Bayne and  rookie Ryan Reed are Roush's top-10 representation and both have medical issues, MS and diabetes respectively.  Trevor has improved in Cup and Nationwide this year.  He said "I've never been more driven to compete." when he announced his MS to the world and I think it shows.

Saturday was the Cup race. Kevin Harvick won with 238 laps led to break the streak of different winners, followed by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. with 5 laps led, Jimmie Johnson with 8 laps led, Matt Kenseth with 12 laps led and Greg Biffle with 5 laps led.  Rounding out the top ten were Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon with 8 laps led, rookie Kyle Larson, Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman. Brad Keselowski led 4 laps before he finished 17th.  Denny Hamlin finished 19th after leading 3 laps.  Brian Vickers led 30 before finishing 26th. David Ragan led 1 lap before finishing 32nd. Joey Logano led the first 37 laps but had trouble with 10 (I think) laps to go, either a leak or front hub issue, which relegated him to 35th.  Kasey Kahne led 23 laps but was 37th after an accident.

Happy Easter this weekend! See you in two weeks, after the Richmond race, unless I decide to do a filler post. I guess they don't wanna race on Easter. Truck and Nationwide had a Nashville race Easter weekend, but they raced on Friday Saturday, so that was still not right on the day.  Nashville's  now used for tests only.

  1. That's very cool that Trevor Bayne races with MS. Right on.

    Have a great Easter!

  2. He has no symptoms now. His only attack to date was right after Easter 2011 and he recovered in about a month. There was a girl racer before him, Kelly Sutton. She took medication so she could races Trucks with MS. He may need meds down the road but for now, diet and exercise is how he regulates it. I know I said see you in two weeks, but I may do a filler post. Maybe list autistic blogs I've read, or something.
