Hey readers! Here's my take on Martinsville, home of the famous hot dogs. The Trucks were back but the Nationwide was off. They return at Texas, the next race.
Saturday was rainy so the Trucks were delayed until after the Cup race on Sunday. Matt Crafton won with 47 laps led, followed by pole-sitter Darrell Wallace Jr. with 34 laps led, rookie Ben Kennedy, Johnny Sauter with 61 laps led and Ryan Blaney with 3 laps led. Rounding out the top-ten were German Quiroga, Timothy Peters with 49 laps led, Ben Rhodes, Ron Hornaday, Jr. with 62 laps led and Brian Ickler. John Wes Townley had an accident on the last lap and brought out the caution.
The Cup race was on Sunday at its scheduled time. Kurt Busch won with 23 laps led, followed by Jimmie Johnson with 296, Dale Earnhardt, Jr with 25 laps led., Joey Logano with 39 laps led and Marcos Ambrose with 22 laps led. Rounding out the top-ten were Matt Kenseth with 36 laps led, Kevin Harvick with 1 lap led, Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer with sixteen laps led and Paul Menard. AJ Allmendinger was eleventh with one lap led. Pole-sitter Kyle Busch was 14th after leading 22 laps. Greg Biffle was 18th after he led 18 laps. Travis Kvapil was 33rd with 1 lap led. Joe Nemechek had an accident and was the only one that didn't finish.
Denny Hamlin had some metal in his eye. The sinus infection business came from how he had a bad one in January and his symptoms reminded him of that. He waited until Wednesday to release this because Richard Petty's wife, Lynda died of cancer. He wanted to respect that. My dad once said "I used to root for the King." Since Richard Petty was the King, Lynda Petty was the Queen, as my Petty fan dad said. Come back in about a week and I'll have my Texas take.
Having metal in an eye sounds really terrible.

Hamlin was all better after they removed the metal and the Petty's didn't come to the track. My gramma had cancer when I was a teen and no one until she was terminal. I've read stories about people with cancer, so I know something about it.

ReplyDeleteI was nineteen, almost twenty and it was right before I started my third year of college. She went to the hospital for something else, which was just symptoms and they found a mass on her ovary.
