Canadian Tire & Darlington Weekend


Hey folks! Here's my take on the Canadian Tire and Darlington weekend. The Trucks were at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and the others raced at Darlington.

Saturday was the Xfinity race.  Elliott Sadler won with 75 laps led, followed by Denny Hamlin with 47 laps led, Daniel Suarez, Kyle Larson with 12 laps led and rookie Brennan Poole.  Rounding out the top-10 were rookie Erik Jones, Ryan Blaney with 5 laps led, Jeremy Clements, rookie Brandon Jones and rookie Ryan Preece.  Paul Menard, the pole-sitter, finished 20th after leading 6 laps.  Rookie Ray Black, Jr. was 21st after 2 laps.  Ross Chastain was 29th after an accident on lap 102.  Mike Harmon was 31st after an accident on lap 66. Carl Long had an accident on lap 60 and was 32nd.  Timmy Hill was 36th after an accident on lap 28.  Rookie B. J. McLeod was 37th after an accident on lap 20.

Sunday was the Canadian Tire Truck race. John H. Nemechek won with 19 laps led, followed by rookie Cole Custer, the pole-sitter with 39 laps led, Daniel Hemric with 2 laps led, Matt Crafton with 4 laps led and rookie Christopher Bell. Rounding out the top-10 were Tyler Reddick, Johnny Sauter, Ben Kennedy, Cameron Haley and rookie William Byron. Spencer Gallagher led 2 laps and finished 22nd.  Kaz Grala was 26th due to an accident on lap 56. Rookie Rico Abreu had an accident on lap 52 and was  27th.  Ben Rhodes was 30th due to an accident on lap 30th.

Sunday was the Cup race. Martin Truex, Jr. won with 28 laps led, followed by pole-sitter Kevin Harvick with 214 laps led, Kyle Larson with 45 laps led, Denny Hamlin with 13 laps led and Joey Logano. Rounding out the top-10 were Matt Kenseth with 10 laps led, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman with 9 laps led, Brad Keselowski with 47 laps led and rookie Chase Elliott. Kyle Busch led 1 lap and finished 11th.  Aric Almirola was 32nd due to an accident on lap 346.  Kurt Busch was 34th after an accident on lap 326.  Greg Biffle had an accident on lap 295 and was 36th.  Rookie Jeffrey Earnhardt was 38th after crashing out on lap 247.  Rookie Brian Scott wrecked out on lap 199 and was 39th.
