Michigan & Road America Weekend


Hey folks! Here's my take on the Michigan and Road America weekend. All series raced this time

Saturday was the Truck race. Brett Moffitt won with 1 lap led, followed by Timothy Peter with 4 laps led, Daniel Hemric with 1 lap led, rookie William Byron with 3 laps led and Cameron Haley. Rounding out the top-10 were rookie Ben Rhodes with 1 lap led, Matt Crafton with 4 laps led, rookie Grant Enfinger, Johnny Sauter and Tyler Young.  Pole-sitter John Wes Townley was 12th.   Reed Sorenson led 1 lap before a vibration relegated him to 21st.  Rookie Cole Custer led 2 laps before an accident relegated him to 22nd. Rookie Christopher Bell and Spencer Gallagher were 24th and 25th, respectively after an accident on lap 74. John H. Nemchek was 26th after an accident on lap 62.  Enrique Contreas was 28th after an accident on lap 40.

Saturday was the Road America Xfinity race.  Michael McDowell won with 24 laps led, followed by Brendan Gaughan with 2 laps led, rookie Brennan Poole, Daniel Suarez and Ryan Reed. Rounding out the top-10 were Justin Allgaier, pole-sitter Alex Tagliani with 17 laps led, Elliott Sadler, Darrell Wallace, Jr. and JJ Yeley.   Rookie Erik Jones was 21st with 5 laps led.  Rookie Garrett Smithly was 40th after an accident on lap 2. No one else wrecked out.\

Sunday was the Cup race. Kyle Larson won with 41 laps led, followed by rookie Chase Elliott with 31 laps led, Brad Keselowski with 14 laps led, rookie Ryan Blaney and Kevin Harvick with 33 laps led.  Rounding the top-10 were Jimmie Johnson with 37 laps led, Carl Edwards with 1 lap led, Jamie McMurray, Denny Hamlin and pole-sitter Joey Logano with 24 laps led. Greg Biffle was 11th with 1 lap led. Matt Kenseth was 13th after leading 8 laps.  Austin Dillon was 16th with 1 lap led.  Ryan Newman was 17th with 1 lap led.  Martin Truex, Jr. led 7 laps and was 20th.  Regan Smith was 26th with 1 lap led.  No one crashed out.

    1. Just getting caught up on my drafts. I was a blog slacker last spring and summer. Fall, though to a lesser extent, too. Really picked up over the winter.
