Martinsville Weekend


Hey folks! Here's my take on the Martinsville weekend.  The Xinity Series was off this weekend.

Friday was the Truck race. Johnny Sauter won with 50 laps led, followed by pole-sitter Chase Elliott with 109 laps led, John Hunter Nemechek with 18 laps led, rookie Christopher Bell and Timothy Peters.  Rounding out the top-10 were Daniel Suarez, rookie Cole Custer, rookie William Byron, Daniel Hemric with 6 laps led and Austin Hill.   Kyle Donahue was 31st due to an accident on lap 48.  Josh White was 32nd due to crashing out after 45 laps.  No one else wrecked out.

Sunday was the Cup race.  Jimmie Johnson won with 92 laps led, followed by Brad Keselowski,  Denny Hamlin with 48 laps led, Matt Kenseth with 176 laps led and Kyle Busch with 3 laps led.  Rounding out the top-10 were Jeff Gordon, pole-sitter Martin Truex, Jr with 147 laps led, Jamie McMurray, Joey Logano with 21 laps led and A. J. Allmendinger with 5 laps led.  Kyle Larson led 6 laps and finished 14th.  Regan Smith finished 30th after 2 laps led.  Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. was 40th due to an accident after 21 laps. No one else wrecked out.
