Phoenix Weekend


Hey folks! Here's my take on the Phoenix weekend. All three series raced this time.

Friday was the Truck race.  Daniel Suarez won with 34 laps led, followed by Johnny Sauter, Matt Crafton, Cameron Hayley and Timothy Peters. Rounding out the top-10 were John Hunter Nemechek,  rookie Christopher Bell,  rookie Matt Tifft, Ben Kennedy and  rookie Cole Custer. Tyler Reddick led 4 laps and finished 12th.  Pole-sitter rookie William Byron led 112 laps before an engine problem relegated him to 27th.  Kaz Grala was 28th due to crashing out on lap 76.  Rookie Tommy Joe Martins had an accident on lap 36th and was 30th.  Dominique Van Wieringen was 31st after an accident on lap 26. Spencher Gallagher was 32nd after crashing out on lap 11.

Saturday was the Xfinity race. Kyle Busch won  from the pole with 190 laps led, followed by Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Justin Allgaier with 2 laps led and Daniel Suarez. Rounding out the top-10 were Ryan Reed, Ty Dillon with 5 laps led, Blake Koch, Brad Keselowski and Erik Jones with 3 laps led.  Jeremy Clements crashed out on lap 150 and was 31st.  Darrell Wallace, Jr. and Corey Lajoie crashed out on lap 148 and were 32nd and 33rd, respectively.  Garrett Smithley wrecked on lap 145 and was 34th.  Brendan Gaughan was 35th due to an accident on lap 136.  Ray Black, Jr. crashed out on lap 103 and was 36th.  Jeff Green was 37th due to an accident on lap 90.  Alex Bowman crashed on lap 54 and was 38th.

Sunday was the Cup race.  Joey Logano won with 58 laps led, followed by Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch. Rounding out the top-10 were pole-sitter Alex Bowman with 194 laps led, Denny Hamlin with 4 laps led, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott and Paul Menard.  Matt Kenseth led 55 laps and was 21st.  Jimmie Johnson led 13 laps before finishing 38th.  Martin Truex, Jr. was 40th after crashing out on lap 258.
