Iowa & Pocono Weekend
Hey folks! Here's my take on the Iowa and Pocono weekend. The Xfinity series raced at Iowa and the other series were at Pocono.
Saturday was the Truck race at Pocono. Rookie William Byron from the pole with 44 laps led, followed by Cameron Hayley, Brett Moffitt, Timothy Peters with 4 laps led and rookie Cole Custer. Rounding out the top-10 were rookie Rico Abreu, Ben Kennedy, Johnny Sauter, John H. Nemechek and rookie Christopher Bell. Spencer Gallagher led 12 laps and was 15th. Tyler Reddick was 26th after crashing out on lap 28. John Wes Townley was 29th after an accident on lap 16. Austin Hill had an accident on lap 1 and was 31st.
Saturday was the Xfinity race at Iowa. Rookie Erik Jones won with 154 laps led, followed by Ty Dillon with 83 laps led, Elliott Sadler with 9 laps led, rookie Brennan Poole and Dakoda Armstrong. Rounding out the top-10 were Sam Hornish, Jr., Justin Allgaier, Brad Keselowski, Josh Berry and Ryan Reed. J.J. Yeley led 4 laps and was 14th. Pole-sitter Daniel Suarez was 30th due to engine issues. Brandon McReynolds was 32nd due to an accident on lap 147. Rookie Ryan Preece was 34th after crashing out on lap 127.
Sunday was the Cup race at Pocono's scheduled day, but rain delayed it to Monday. Fog and a threat of rain shortened the race with 22 laps to go. Chris Buescher won with 12 laps led, followed by Brad Keselowski with 8 laps led, Regan Smtih, Kevin Harvick with 7 laps led and Tony Stewart. Rounding out the top-10 were Kyle Larson with 37 laps led, Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch with 1 lap led and Kurt Busch. Ryan Newman was 12th with 1 lap led. Austin Dillon finished 13th after 3 laps led. A. J. Allmendinger led 1 lap and was 14th. Greg Biffle finished 25th after leading 14 laps led. Joey Logano finished 37th after leading 38 laps. Pole-sitter Martin Truex, Jr. led 16 laps before an accident on lap 82 relegated him to 38th. Aric Almirola was 39th after an incident on lap 66.
