Chicagoland Weekend


Hey folks! Here's my take on the Chicagoland weekend. All series raced this time.

Friday night was the Truck race. Kyle Busch won with 95 laps led, followed by Daniel Hemric, Cameron Hayley, rookie Christopher Bell and Johnny Sauter.  Rounding out the top-10 were rookie Grant Enfinger,  pole-sitter Spencer Gallagher with 8 laps led, Timothy Peters, rookie Cole Custer and Tyler Reddick.  Daniel Suarez was 11th with 43 laps led.   Tommy Joe Martins led 1 lap before an accident on lap 137 relegated him to 24th. Rookie Ben Rhodes was 25th after an accident on lap 125. Ben Kennedy led 4 laps before an accident on lap 111 relegated him to 26th. Matt Crafton, who also crashed out on lap 111, was 27th.  Rookie William Byron was 30th after crashing on lap 40.

Saturday was the Xfinity race.  Rookie Erik Jones won with 10 laps led, followed by Kyle Larson with 9 laps led, Elliott Sadler with 6 laps led, Daniel Suarez with 5 laps led and Justin Allgaier with 3 laps led.  Rounding out the top-10 were Clint Bowyer with 3 laps led, followed by Joey Logano with 5 laps led, Brendan Gaughan with 1 lap led, Paul Menard and Brandon  Jones.  Pole-sitter Kyle Busch led 154 laps and was 13th.  Rookie Ryan Preece was 17th with 2 laps led.  Ryan Reed was 32nd after an accident on lap 101.  Travis Kvapil led 2 laps before an engine problem on lap 82 relegated him to 33rd.  Derrike Cope was 37th after an accident on lap 27.

Sunday was the Cup race. Martin Truex, Jr. won with 32 laps led, followed by Joey Logano with 1 lap led, rookie Chase Elliott with 75 laps led, Ryan Blaney with 8 laps led and Brad Keselowski with 7 laps led. Rounding out the top-10 were Denny Hamlin with 2 laps led, Kasey Kahne, pole-sitter Kyle Busch with 21 laps led, Matt Kenseth and Alex Bowman with 6 laps led.  Jimmie Johnson led 118 laps and finished 12th.  No one crashed out.
