Talladega Weekend


Hey folks! Here's my take on the Talladega weekend. The Xfinity series was off this time.

Saturday was the Truck race. Rookie Grant Enfinger won with 45 laps led, followed by Spencer Gallagher with 1 lap led, Timothy Peters with 14 laps led, rookie Rico Abreu and Ben Kennedy with 8 laps led. Rounding out the top 10 were rookie Christopher Bell, Johnny Sauter, Ryan Truex, rookie Matt Tifft with 3 laps led and rookie William Byron. Rookie Austin Wayne Self led 1 lap and finished 14th.  Tommy Joe Martins finished 16th after leading  4 laps.  Cameron Haley was 19th due to an accident after 93 laps.  Chris Fontaine was 23rd due to an accident on lap 64.  Rookie Ben Rhodes, Brandon Brown, Tyler Reddick, who led 16 laps, Korbin Forrister and John Wes Townley were 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th due to an accident on lap 59.   Rookie Cole Custer led 2 laps before an accident after 58 laps relegated him to 29th.  Brandon Hightower was 30th due to an accident on lap 51.

Sunday was the Cup race.  Joey Logano won with 45 laps led, followed by rookie Brian Scott, Denny Hamlin with 12 laps led, Kurt Busch and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. with 6 laps led.  Rounding out the top-10 were Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick, Aric Almirola, Austin Dillon with 1 lap led and A. J. Allmendinger.  Ryan Blaney finished 11th after leading 3 laps. Chase Elliott led 9 laps and finished 12th.  Greg Biffle finished 15th after 13 laps led.  Matt Kenseth led 1 lap and finished 28th.  Carl Edwards finished 29th with 1 lap led.  Kyle Busch led 2 laps and finished 30th.  Tony Stewart was 32nd after leading 1 laps.  Michael Annett led 6 laps and finished 33rd.  Brad Keselowski led 90 laps before an engine issue on lap 144 relegated him to 38th. Casey Mears was 39th due to an accident on lap 113.No one else crashed out.   Pole-sitter Martin Truex, Jr. led 2 laps before an engine issue relegated him to 40th.
