Watkins Glen Weekend


Hey folks! Here's my take on the Watkins Glen weekend. The Trucks were off this weekend.

Saturday was the Xfinity race. Joey Logano won from the pole with 67 laps led, followed by Paul Menard, Kyle Larson with 2 laps led,  Daniel Suarez with 6 laps led and Trevor Bayne. Rounding out the top-10 were Elliott Sadler, Justin Allgaier, Brendan Gaughan, Ryan Reed and rookie Brennan Poole.  Ty Dillon finished 11th after leading 5 laps.   Ross Chastain led 2 laps and finished 14th.  Derrike Cope was 31st after an accident on lap 53.  Todd Bodine, Blake Koch, Tomy Drissi and Kyle Busch were 34th, 35th, 36th and 37th  after crashing out on lap 17.

Sunday was the Cup race. Denny Hamlin won with 10 laps led, followed by Joey Logano with 8 laps led, Brad Keselowski with 28 laps led, A. J. Allmendinger and Tony Stewart. Rounding out the top-10 were Kyle Busch with 4 laps led, Martin Truex, Jr. with 1 lap led,  Jamie McMurray, Trevor Bayne and Matt Kenseth.  Kurt Busch finished 11th after leading 3 laps.  Carl Edwards, the pole-sitter, led 25 laps and finished 15th.  Danica Patrick finished 21st after leading 11 laps.  Kevin Harvick, David Ragan and Matt DiBenedetto were 32nd, 33rd and 34th after an accident on lap 83. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Greg Biffle  and Jimmie Johnson were 38th, 39th and 40th after crashing out on lap 52.
